Protolite Racing currently offers plans for two of our Protolite buggy models. The two seat SS1000 and the DXT single seat buggy.
Protolite Racing has spent many years designing and developing our buggies and parts. After years of building and racing buggies, we have decided to offer plans to our customers for them to build. By doing this, we hope to help stimulate the off road, UTV, side by side, and mini buggy racing all over the country and world. Our off road buggy design has been proven and tested time and time again in the sand dunes, trails, dirt tracks and asphalt road courses. We are confident that our plans will be the best fit for the avid buggy enthusiast who is ready to build a safe, solid, and hi-performing vehicle, whether for the track or recreation.
Many other plans for buggy frames will leave the suspension, drive train and many critical components for the home builder to research, figure out and try to find. This is an intricate and vital part of the buggy build that we have engineered and tested for you.
NOTE: These plans are for the roll cage frame. They do not include dimensional prints for the A-arms or front and rear wheel kits. Those parts are available for purchase. See below
Protolite Racing has the parts you need to complete your buggy. These parts are designed in and readily available at our website. Many of these parts need to be jig built and CNC machined which is why we offer the parts and not the prints to build the parts. By doing this we also eliminate the need for the home builder to purchase machinery and an expensive tubing bender needed just to bend a few tubes.
Protolite Racing also offers pre-bent tubing frame kits for these plans to help save you time and money. If you do not want to spend almost $1000 on a tubing bender to build your frame, then the pre-bent kit may be a nice option for you. These tubes are cut and bent to dimension and ready for you to notch, fit and weld. If you choose to bend them yourself, the prints for bending the frame tubes are included in the plans. The tubing bender we use is a JD2 1.5 diameter 5.5 radius. We also offer straight tube kits that are pre-cut to length as well as laser parts and tube ends for the frame build.
A 5% discount will be offered on select Protolite Racing components needed to complete your build when you purchase our plans. By taking advantage of this 5% discount when building your buggy, you will save more than the plans initially cost. Essentially making the plans free.The components that are included in this discount are listed below.
